Awards and Recognition Program


MLRN is proud to announce the creation of an awards program to honor the achievements of persons who have made advancements in the field of new teacher induction programs and at the same time educate ASCD constituents about what constitutes quality mentoring. Individuals may nominate persons who have exhibited outstanding characteristics of what makes up a quality mentor, a new teacher who has shown growth, a model new teacher program and/or an exemplarily director of a new teacher program.

Goals of the Awards Program

to promote the recognition of processional teacher induction programs.
to educate MLRN & ASCD members of what constitutes quality mentoring.
to honor school districts which have implemented quality programs.
to encourage MLRN members to network and share ideas about mentoring.
to honor persons who have made major contributions to the field of new teacher induction programs.

Nomination Process
Nominations for one or more awards may be done on-line by completing the application form. Questions or comments may be sent to richardelange@hotmail.com. We encourage you to nominate and recognize excellence in the area of new teacher induction programs and at the same time learn what constitutes quality mentoring.

Quality Mentoring Criteria Links
The main purpose of the MLRN awards program is to help educators understand the components of what a quality new teacher induction program looks like. We encourage school districts to use the information that appears on the links listed below when designing their induction programs as indicators of successful mentoring activities. The information on the links comes from research done by MLRN members Richard Lange, Scott Scafidi, Ray Dagenais, Barry Sweeney, Ami Hicks and the Missouri State Teacher's Association.
