THE PROCESS OF MATCHING MENTORS AND PROTÉGÉS

1. The mentor/protégé match will be a one-on-one relationship and with assignments within the same department if possible. If this arrangement is not possible, the mentor/protégé will be from as similar as subject area, knowledge, and/or skill area as possible.

2. Applications are reviewed by mentor/protégé match committee, and they will make the recommendations for the mentor-protege match.

3. A social meeting will be organized at the start of each school year to allow all the mentors and proteges to meet each other. In addition, mentoring committee members, mentoring rainers, and involved department chairs will be invited to attend.

THE APPEAL PROCESS FOR MENTORS AND PROTEGES

Either the mentor or protégé may present any concerns they have to the Mentor/Protégé Match Committee to discuss the problem and/or to be relieved of the relationship if necessary.

The process involves the following steps:

1. Mentor and/or protegee requests a meeting with the committee. (At least three members must be present)

2. The committee will meet to discuss the situation. The other party to the relationship will be contacted for discussion of the situation. If it is appropriate both the mentor and protégé will meet with the committee.

3. A decision is reached for relieving the problem or disbanding the relationship.
